Terms of service

The agreement between you and us when you use How’s My Store.

Effective 19 October 2026

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and [to be confirmed] (“we”, “us”), which operates How’s My Store at howsmystore.com. By using How’s My Store you agree to them. If you use it for a business, you confirm you can agree on the business’s behalf. Our privacy policy explains how we handle data.

2. What How’s My Store does

  • Audits an online store from its public pages and, where the platform publishes one, its public catalogue, and reports what’s holding it back.
  • Writes fixes — product descriptions, titles, alt text, meta descriptions — using an AI model and an API key you provide, for you to review.
  • Publishes the fixes you accept to your store, records what each field said before, and lets you undo them.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Your account also works for ShopAltAI, which shares our sign-in system; ShopAltAI’s own terms cover your use of it.

4. Stores you check and connect

  • The free check reads only what any visitor can see. Don’t use it to overload a site, to get around a site’s access controls, or as part of an attack. We rate-limit it and may block misuse.
  • Only connect a store — and only give us access to change one — if you own it or are authorised by its owner to do so.
  • When you give us access to your store you authorise us to read its products and to write the specific changes you publish. You can withdraw that by removing the access in How’s My Store, or by revoking it in WooCommerce or Shopify.

5. Fixes are yours to approve

  • Nothing is written to your store until you accept a fix and press Publish. AI-written text can be wrong — it can misdescribe a product, miss something important or say something you can’t claim. You’re responsible for reviewing every fix before you publish it, and for what your store says once you have.
  • Undo puts back the value a field had just before we published, as long as the field hasn’t been changed since. If it has, we leave it alone and tell you. Undo isn’t a backup: keep your own backups of your store.
  • Publishing changes your live store. Your platform, theme, plugins or apps may handle a change differently from what we expect; tell us if something goes wrong.

6. Your AI key

Fixes are generated with an API key from a provider you choose. Your use of that provider is under your agreement with them, and they charge you for it directly. We don’t charge for generation and aren’t responsible for the provider’s availability, charges or output.

7. No promises about rankings or sales

Audits are our assessment, not a guarantee. Where a finding comes from a sample of pages, we say so. We don’t promise that using How’s My Store will improve your search rankings, traffic or sales.

8. Your content

Your store’s content stays yours, and so do the fixes you publish. You give us permission to read, store and process your content only as needed to provide How’s My Store to you.

9. Fair use

Don’t try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to How’s My Store, use it to break the law or someone else’s rights, or resell it without our agreement. Only email reports to people who’d expect to get them; don’t use report emails to send spam or to pass yourself off as anyone else. We limit how many reports can be sent.

10. Price

If you’re on a paid plan, the price and what it includes are shown before you buy. If we change either for your plan, we’ll email you before the change applies, and you can cancel before then.

11. Ending

You can stop using How’s My Store whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account at [to be confirmed]. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where we can, we’ll tell you first and give you the chance to export your data.

12. Availability and disclaimers

We work to keep How’s My Store running and accurate, but it’s provided “as is”, without warranties beyond those the law requires. It depends on services we don’t control — your store’s platform and your AI provider — which can change or stop working.

13. Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, sales, data or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim about How’s My Store is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the effective date above and, before a significant change applies, email your account’s address. If you don’t agree, you can stop using How’s My Store and delete your account before then. If you keep using it after the change applies, the new terms apply.
